A letter from me to you.

I imagine it's been a long journey for you to have to find this site. 

I can understand that because I have been through it myself. And i'm sorry you had to go through it too.

I hope your journey will be ending successfully soon, but whilst we wait, I hope that IVF in Europe can help you. IVF Europe has been designed to specifically to give you the information you need to make the right choice about where to have your treatment done.

This site isn’t here to promote or discourage going abroad for IVF, as there are real pros and cons to both sides. The cost of treament abroad seems dramatically cheaper but there are lots of hidden costs. Equally, the rising cost of treatment in the UK, especially in London, is very offputting to some people.

When I was looking around for IVF treatment, I didn’t consider going abroad. But after speaking to a few people and doing a huge amount of research, my husband and I took the decision to do it. We went to Scandinavia (I won’t get too specific as to where we went, as it should be a personal choice)

It was only after we decided where to go, and told people, that we got approached by friends, friends of friends and online friends asking 1000s of questions!. So I realised there needed to be one place that brings together all the questions and answers. So I set about designing ‘IVF in Europe’ to help.

I am not a Doctor or any type of medical professional. I have no background in fertility other than my own long fertility journey. I make no claims or recommendations for any clinics or countries here. Those choices are YOURS to make.

I gathered this information from IVF friends, mums, friends, parents, word of mouth, informal recommendations, websites, chat rooms and basic common sense.

Be aware.  IVF & Fertility is big business. There are a lot of people out there who would like our hard earned money. So be clever and be careful. (I love this quote; “It’s like your wedding day – as soon as you say those 3 magic letters ‘IVF”, everyone adds 50% to the cost”)

So whether you are doing this the first time, or second, whether it’s IUI, IVF, ICSI, and FET treatments, I hope you will use this website in the spirit it was intended.

And one last point - Always seek advice from a medical professional throughout your fertility journey. Chat rooms are a lifeline for people like us, but remember, there is no substitute to knowing real facts from the professionals.
